Buffalo-size rodent fossils stir scientists | SFGate

I love Dobbye, but a buffalo-sized Dobbye would be quite intimidating. The diagram is interesting, because it shows a “6-foot-tall human” towering over what is described in the title of the article as a “buffalo-size rodent.” Now that I’m looking at this photo, I’m seeing a tail . . . so not really a gigantic capybara. Maybe a gigantic rat? In my opinion, capybaras are still the largest rodents, because these are all dead. Extinct, actually.

Actually, the closest genus, Dinomys, includes the much smaller pacaranas, not capybaras. Still, if you are interested in rodents, this is an interesting article. (link below)
